Short Commands

Forgot to start or stop tracking, or realized you are tracking the wrong task? With Whid you can easily adjust just with a few keystrokes.

Add tracking for a specified time frame

Command {task name} {from time}-{to time}
Example Whid/Implement Feature 13:00-14:00

Did you forget to enter a meeting? Enter your task name with the start and end times in the tracker field, then press Enter. This will add a new task for the current day between the given times. The times have to be provided in a 24-hour format.

Adjust start time

Command {task name} --
Example Whid/Implement Feature --

Would you like to start tracking right after your previous task? Enter your new task name, add -- at the end, then press Enter. This will start tracking the new task from the end of the previous task.

Command {task name} {from time}
Example Whid/Implement Feature 13:00

Did you forget to start tracking at the beginning of your meeting? Enter your new task name with the start time at the end, then press Enter. This will start tracking the new task for the current day from the given time. The time has to be provided in a 24-hour format.

Command {task name} -{time unit}
Example Whid/Implement Feature -30m

Did you want to start tracking a few minutes ago? Add a time unit at the end of your task name to start it that long ago. See the list of all handled time units at the bottom of this page.

Command /move start -{time unit} or /m s -{time unit}
Example /move start -10m

Did you accidentally start your task a few minutes later than you intended to? You can move the beginning of the tracking back by a time unit and press Enter, or use the even shorter form. See the list of all handled time units at the bottom of this page.

Adjust end time

Command -{time unit}
Example -30m

Did you forget to stop your tracking? While the task is still running, enter a time unit in the tracker field and press Enter. This will close your current task and move its end back by that amount.

For the time unit, see the list of all handled time units at the bottom of this page.

Command {to time}
Example 12:00

You can also stop at an exact time: while the task is still running, enter a time in the tracker field and press Enter. The time has to be provided in a 24-hour format.

Move currently tracked time to another task

Command /move {task name} or /m {task name}
Example /move Whid/Implement Feature

Did you start tracking a task, but you actually did not start working on it, and in the same time frame you worked on something else? Type the move command with the other task’s name in the tracker field and press Enter. This moves all the so far tracked time frame to that task and will continue tracking for it. You can also use the even shorter form.

Cancel tracked time

Command /cancel or /c
Example /cancel

Did you start tracking a task that you actually didn’t work on, and you haven’t started other tasks either? You can just drop the time by typing the cancel command and pressing Enter. You can also use the even shorter form.

Pause tracked time in a given time frame

Command /pause {from time}-{to time} or /p {from time}-{to time}
Example /pause 12:00-13:00

Were you tracking during your lunch break and would like to exclude it? Type the pause command with the time frame to exclude and press Enter. This will stop your tracking at the start time and resume it at the end time. You can also use the even shorter form. The times have to be provided in a 24-hour format.

Command /pause -{time unit} or /p -{time unit}
Example /pause -30m

Have you just realized that your work was paused for a while? Type the pause command with a time unit and press Enter. This will stop your tracking that long ago and resume it now. You can also use the even shorter form. See the list of all handled time units at the bottom of this page.
