“Pizza Hut, how can I help you?”
“Ummm…”
Paul looked at Arthur’s phone slightly terrified. They had already spent 15 minutes to discuss who wants what, and he just forgot everything at the very moment the Pizza Hut lady answered the call. It was such a shame that he lost in rock-paper-scissors against the frog and the snail, so he had to do the ordering.
“Pizza Hut here,” repeated the lady, still waiting. She sounded very strict! Probably not happy that he was not answering fast enough… “Can I help you?”
“Ummm…” Paul felt completely lost. He looked at Hubert for some support, but he should have known better. Hubert rolled his eyes — just as usual, he probably had very muscular eyes by now from all the rolling —, and turned back to his computer. “Ummm…” Now Paul tried with Arthur, sending him all the desperation he felt. Arthur sent back an encouraging snail-smile, and whispered: “You can do it!” Which resulted in a snort of disapproval from Hubert’s desk. But it was enough for Paul: he took a deep breath, and finally started cluttering:
“I would li…” The call was cancelled.
“Again!” said Arthur without mercy. Paul nodded with determination, and called the pizza place again.
“Pizza Hu…”
“I would like to order a pizza!” he shouted.
“Then you definitely called the right number,” giggled the lady on the other side. “What kind of pizza would you like?”
“Uhh… what was it… umm… umm… what do you recommend?”
“Come on, kid, be a man, choose your own pizza!” said Hubert.
“Our crunchy crust pizza is very popular, would you like to try it?” The lady didn’t hear Hubert.
“Umm, yes!” answered Paul.
“Nooo!” growled Hubert.
“A crunchy crust pizza it is. Would you like something else? A drink, a salad or some dessert?”
“Sooo… I would like to have a salad for Arthur, just a regular caesar salad.” Paul decided not to care about disappointing Hubert. “And a box of flies for Hubert.”
“A crunchy crust pizza, a caesar salad and a box of flies. Anything else?”
“No, that would be all.”
Then Paul told the address to the lady, and finished the call.
“Whew, this was easier than I thought,” he said, and smiled with relief.
“There is room for improvement,” grumbled Hubert. “But it was alright, kid.”
